Open Sky Wilderness Therapy works with teens, adults and families to strengthen relationships, foster growth, and develop wellness. We provide year-round therapeutic adventure expeditions in the high desert of the Four Corners region. Our students leave behind the distractions of negative peer pressure, unhealthy relationships, dysfunctional behaviors, and academic struggles to live for a time in our healing wilderness program.

The Open Sky leadership team came together because we shared a vision of creating an innovative wilderness therapy program focused on family wellness, therapeutic support and behavioral change. We designed a program which enhances the health of not only our clients, but also ourselves. Our management has a combined 70 years working with teens and families in crisis. Open Sky staff consist of Masters and Doctorate-level counselors, Ivy League-trained managers, and experienced field guides. Our seasoned medical staff includes naturopathic doctors, traditional physicians and emergency medical technicians. Every Open Sky student receives a complete assessment from a traditional medical practitioner, a naturopathic physician, and a Masters or PhD-level therapist.

Open Sky is founded upon a holistic approach to health. Our program works with the whole person: body, mind, heart and soul. Given that complex family dynamics and poor communication are often at the core of students’ struggles, Open Sky works closely with families, providing twice-weekly teleconferences with the Open Sky treatment team, weekly family assignments, monthly Family Wellness Retreats, and a three-day Family Therapy Graduation process at our base camp area. Moreover, we feed our students a healthy organic, whole foods diet in the belief that physical health is integrally linked with emotional health.
