Open Sky named one of Colorado’s 50 Companies to Watch for 2009

Durango, CO—June, 2009—Open Sky Wilderness, a wilderness-based therapeutic program for adolescents and young adults has been given the distinction of being one of Colorado’s Companies to Watch (CCTW) for 2009. This annual award will be given to Open Sky when CCTW hosts its Gala Celebration at the Denver Center for Performing Arts June 25th, 2009.

Colorado Companies to Watch 2009Presented by the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), this awards program recognizes Open Sky for its demonstration of employee growth, entrepreneurial leadership, community enrichment and sustainable competitive advantage.

The Colorado Companies to Watch program energizes the State of Colorado by recognizing and celebrating second-stage companies that are developing valuable products and services, creating quality jobs, enriching communities, and creating new industries throughout the state. This is a national program sponsored by the Edward Lowe Foundation.

“These companies are exactly the kind of companies that we focus our efforts on,” explains Colorado Governor Bill Ritter. “I want to thank them and acknowledge them because I really do believe that because of companies like these we will have a better place, a better Colorado for our kids and for our grandkids.”

Founded in 2006, Open Sky Wilderness is privately owned and operated by members of the Open Sky team. Now past the start-up phase, Open Sky is entering its third year and provides employment to more than 60 individuals. To date, Open Sky has successfully served more than 350 adolescents and young adults and their families from around the country.

Setting the industry standards, Open Sky provides innovative, holistic healing practices to its students and families. Integrating evidence-based clinical modalities with mindfulness and naturopathic medicine, Open Sky students are introduced to yoga, meditation and participate in an organic/whole foods diet throughout the duration of their stay.
