Shannon was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia which explains that accent you might hear when you phone the Open Sky offices. She is married and has a 17 year old son, Oliver. She first visited Durango in 1993 when she was able to fall in love with skiing and the area. Shannon vacationed in Durango for many years and started to dream about living here. In search of a better quality of life and a more wholesome environment for her family, Shannon took leave of the asphalt jungle and moved in March of 2004. She has worked in Human Resources for 15 years with experience in a variety of industries. Her degree is in Business Administration from Clayton State College. Since graduating, Shannon has consulted for various organizations providing leadership and guidance for specific short term HR related needs to developing and implementing corporate and general workplace policy and procedures to designing a multitude of employee resources including an interactive employee intranet, orientations and training programs. She also has extensive experience planning large events. Shannon loves the challenge of marrying the intricacies of people and business strategy and views her job as a “people profession” which is dynamic and ever-changing. She believes it is her responsibility to view Open Sky employees as her clients and to help foster positive relationships as well as increase job satisfaction. Shannon has been able to take this young company to the next level by creating systems and creating better offerings for the people within the organization. To truly be successful, Shannon tries to practice patience, persistence, determination, empathy and strong communication skills on a daily basis. When Shannon isn’t making the world a better place for Open Sky employees, she enjoys traveling and experiencing new and different cultures. She considers winter her favorite season and likes to ski, snowmobile and snowshoe. Shannon loves adventure and spontaneity and thrives on change. She also considers herself a bookworm.
