Morgan Robak (1)

Please join us in welcoming Morgan Robak, LCSW, to Open Sky’s clinical team. Morgan is incredibly passionate about her work and brings significant depth and experience as both a wilderness guide and wilderness therapist. Like Open Sky, Morgan emphasizes a values-driven and family-centered approach to her work. Morgan will be working with adolescent boys at Open Sky.

Morgan earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After completing a 30-day backpacking / pack rafting trip through the Alaskan backcountry, she developed a love for the outdoors and an appreciation for how nature and wilderness can assist individuals in their mental, physical, and emotional growth. Morgan was introduced to wilderness therapy when she became a field guide. This experience gave her a unique understanding of the daily activities and value of the field staff who are working with her students. After working as a field guide, Morgan knew wilderness therapy was effective, and she wanted to continue to be a part of it. She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Social Work at Colorado State University and has been working in the field ever since.

In addition to her work in wilderness therapy, Morgan has experience in foster care and residential treatment. She uses CBT and DBT while working with her students, as well as a strength-based approach. Morgan has extensive experience working with adolescents who present with depression, anxiety, oppositional defiance, trauma, drug use, anger and/or attachment challenges. Morgan manages to hold strong boundaries while also building relationships based on trust and care. She practices yoga in her free time and believes it can be helpful for her students to use yoga and mindfulness to draw connections between what is happening in their bodies and working to be more congruent with what they think, feel, and do.
