Dr. Paul Case is a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families.  Dr. Paul earned his doctorate from Wheaton College in 2000 and completed his doctoral residency at Butler University, where he provided individual, group, and family therapy, and comprehensive psychological evaluations for young adults. After his residency, Dr. Paul spent two years at Montana State Hospital where he spearheaded clinical pathways bridging inpatient and community care across Montana.  Dr. Paul chaired a team of clinicians at the hospital in establishing one of the earliest Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) treatment programs in the country.

From 2002 to 2006, Dr. Paul served as Clinical Supervisor at Montana Academy, one of the nation’s premier therapeutic boarding schools.  Prior to joining Open Sky in 2010, Dr. Paul worked for four years as a wilderness therapist at Second Nature Blue Ridge.  Dr. Paul has presented papers at the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP), the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), and the American Psychological Association (APA).

Dr. Paul’s areas of clinical expertise include anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief and loss, trauma, family conflict, attention deficit/executive functioning, anger issues, disordered eating, and failing to launch into the adult world. Dr. Paul is known for his gentle southern manner and his playful approach to addressing difficult issues.

In his time off, Dr. Paul enjoys playing guitar and cello, writing and recording songs, snowboarding, tennis, gardening, traveling and enjoying all that Durango has to offer with his family and two beautiful canine companions.
