Ben Lotstein, BS

Transition Mentor

Ben's love for the outdoors was forged in the forests of Southwest CT. During his childhood, he would regularly hike, fish, and explore in the woods around his home. Ben later went on to receive a B.S. in Outdoor Adventure Leadership from Ithaca College, during which he was a student on a 90-day wilderness intensive course. This extended backcountry experience solidified Ben's aspirations of pursuing a career using the outdoors as a catalyst for effecting change in the lives of others.

Ben has worked as a mountaineering guide and outdoor educator for organizations including Outward Bound and Cornell University, ultimately landing at Open Sky in 2014. Before being promoted to Transition Mentor, Ben worked as a Senior Field Guide, spending over 250 days in the field. Working as a Field Guide exposed Ben to the power that Wilderness Therapy has to transform one's understanding of how they show up in relationship with themselves and others, as well as realign their true self.

In Ben's free time, he can be found mountain biking, enjoying a nice meal, listening to music or spending time with friends and family.
