After growing up in New York, Dr. Braunstein (or “Dr. B,” as he is known by the students in the field,) attended undergraduate at the University of Florida where he received a B.S. in mathematics. He went on to earn his medical degree at Nova Southeastern University College Of Osteopathic Medicine in 1997. He completed his residency in general psychiatry at The University of New Mexico and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Dr. B is board certified in general psychiatry.
Dr. B specializes in the treatment of ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse, oppositional defiance, personality disorders, and treatment resistance. He is known for his relaxing nature, ability to involve clients in their own treatment process, assessment skills, and ability to develop therapeutic alliance with treatment resistant youth.
Dr. B moved to Durango in 2002 and has maintained a private practice along with his work at Open Sky. In his spare time, enjoys kayaking, rafting, skiing, and snowboarding. His favorite thing is spending time with his school age son.
