Tom Holcomb | COO

Featured Team Members: Tom Holcomb, MBA

Open Sky is seeking a Human Resources Director to help shape our future. The Human Resources Department serves as a strategic and solutions-oriented partner across our organization. Having grown in size, complexity, and sophistication, Open Sky is dedicated to providing leadership through Human Resources to make our organization stronger and more effective and to reflect our commitment to excellence. The Human Resources Director will impact our success and vitality through recruiting and hiring the best employees and providing them with the compensation, benefits, training, development, and systems they need to be successful. They will make Human Resources integral to Open Sky by aligning the entire organization with our mission, vision, values, and goals.

You are a Top Performer

You consistently achieve results and make positive contributions. You love to “wow” people by producing quality work, improving productivity, making good decisions, and modeling an approach consistent with Open Sky’s culture. You exhibit the highest degree of ethics and honesty. You are sought-after – not only because of your impressive knowledge and business acumen but because you are easy to work with and dependable. You “get it.” You understand the organization’s direction and goals and think beyond your immediate job. You explore ways to solve problems, constantly see new opportunities, and move organizations forward.

You Love to Work Towards an Admirable Mission

You will work alongside a talented group of individuals who are passionate, compassionate, supportive, intelligent, and motivated. Our staff and organization are driven by more than what we do, by why we do it: to activate the potential of the human spirit, knowing that all people have the capacity to thrive. The work that Open Sky does with its students and families is nothing short of amazing and highly rewarding for all levels of the organization. Open Sky opened its doors in Durango, Colorado, with the mission of inspiring individuals to live in a way that honors values and strengthens relationships. We are driven by our core values of courage, community, and excellence.

You Desire to Live in Paradise

Durango is our home because of its proximity to the spectacular beauty of the San Juan Mountains and the canyon country of Southeast Utah, where we conduct our field operations. With white-capped mountain peaks and warm desert sun, there is no better place to offer our program or to thrive as an individual.

What makes Durango such a popular outdoor wonderland is not just its picturesque natural beauty, or countless local events and attractions; it’s the weather that helps make Durango a true mountain paradise. On average, there are 266 sunny days per year in Durango, Colorado. Durango offers a fantastic quality of life with world-class outdoor access, a vibrant downtown, and a strong sense of community.

Great Benefits

The successful Human Resources Director candidate will receive relocation assistance. We offer competitive compensation commensurate with your experience. Our benefits include Health, Dental, vision, life, long-term disability, and short-term disability insurance; sick leave; paid time off; 401(k) retirement plan with match; and an Employee Assistance Program. Our home office is located on the beautiful Animas River with frequent Bald Eagle sightings, a walking trail to downtown Durango, and the daily passing of the historic Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Tired of the office routine? Frequent visits to our operations and field offices located in the sunny desert or scenic mountains will brighten your week.
