Asa joined Open Sky as a field guide in September 2019. He brings with him experience in trauma therapy training with Dr. Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing Program, along with other bio/psycho/social-oriented trainings. Asa has various body work certifications and spent two years on faculty at the Pacific Center for Awareness and Body Work.
Asa is passionate about expanding therapy outside of the weekly session in an office setting. He was attracted to wilderness therapy by the ways individuals are able to explore the outdoors while in relationship with a dynamic cohort of humans. He values being a part of this team.
Within a guide team, Asa’s strengths are balancing levity and gravity, articulating that which is difficult to express, and guiding people to discover their own resilience and tenderness.
During his off time, Asa loves to “shred the pow pow” on the slopes, read, create things of beauty, and practice jiu jitsu. His unusual talent is that he can speak in palindromes while riding a unicycle.
