Brittain Lovett, MS

Associate Therapist

Brittain grew up in both Texas and Massachusetts.  During these formative years, Brittain also spent significant time in the mountains of Colorado and on lakes in Wisconsin with her family. She attended Colorado College as an undergraduate and majored in English. Following graduation, Brittan worked for a year working at a social service agency in the Bay Area. This experience solidified her desire to do work supporting people’s growth and success, leading to her obtaining her master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Indiana, Bloomington.  After years working in therapeutic school environments, she made the leap to begin a Master of Social Work program at Smith College School for Social Work.  She is thrilled and grateful to be on this path.

Brittain’s zest for learning and understanding led her to both teaching and now clinical work. She has spent years working in special education and therapeutic behavioral settings, teaching and supporting middle and high school students. Most recently, she worked with high school students with disabilities and their families in navigating the transition from high school. Brittain has training in mindfulness integration within schools, restorative practices, trauma-informed practice, and motivational interviewing.

Brittain loves the outdoors. She spent several years working on farms, which was a natural manifestation of her interest in holistic well-being.  She has taught yoga in various settings as a yoga practitioner trained in the Ashtanga tradition.  Brittain is a strong believer in slowing down; she relishes and seeks opportunities to reset in the outdoor elements. Doing emotional processing and work in the midst of nature’s rhythms just makes sense to her. Open Sky’s integration of mindfulness and movement with individual, group, and family work is the ideal combination of Brittain’s personal and professional instincts and interests.

In her free time, Brittain loves trying out new recipes, gardening, reading, running, practicing yoga, skiing, and making pottery. Brittain has a strong spiritual curiosity and also loves silliness. Having recently moved to southwest Colorado from Vermont, she is excited to continue exploring the area with her husband and their awesome black and white dog.
