Brittney Seeliger

Senior Guide

Brittney has experience working with students and adults, promoting health and well being through connection with nature. Her excitement for hiking in the diverse California backcountry is contagious and by preparing and preventing injuries in wilderness, those she hikes with feel safe while exploring the mountains and lakes found in the Pacific Northwest. As a solo hiker, Brittney has found balance in nature and inspires those she hikes with to find their own passion for the trails.

Working with young adults in an outdoor setting is Brittney’s dream job and after researching other companies, she decided Open Sky’s core values, course locations, and opportunities offered the most parallel connection to her own journey and goals.

Pushing herself in the mountains and being a guide for others to face their challenges drew Brittney to the field guide position. She has learned much from her experiences of meditation on the trail and wants to share the depth of what nature provides to simplify life distractions. She hopes to be particularly of service to young women, teaching body confidence and giving them the skills to feel empowered by their own strength and grit.

During her time off, Brittney loves to connect with community. She works with local restaurants and large financial institutions and is committed to finding support for Open Sky field guides. Creating events and memories outside of work is rewarding for her and her neighbors. Brittney hopes to replicate the success she found producing the largest music festival in Santa Monica here in Durango. Balance is key to Brittney, and her hope is to allow other field guides to shine creatively and feel the support of the locals in large community events.
