Effie’s past experience includes leading a trail crew, where she learned how to work in the backcountry and take care of others in an outdoor setting. Effie decided to go into the field of wilderness therapy because she has found personal healing in her own outdoor experiences and has always been attracted to helping others build deeper connections with the natural world. What she values most about her role as a field guide is creating an emotionally safe container for students so they can fully pursue personal improvement. Her greatest strength within a guide time is quickly building rapport with students through one-on-one check-ins. Effie is also a confident backpacker and excels at making others feel comfortable in an outdoor environment. She can stay calm in stressful situations and feels passionate about teaching yoga and building connection with one’s body. During her time off, Effie enjoys running and hiking – anything that keeps her active! She also loves to draw, paint with watercolor, and experiment with making pottery.
