Evan Fenstermaker, BA

Assistant Field Director

Evan loves to work with kids and work outdoors. He was attracted to Open Sky in particular because its humanistic values and therapeutic philosophy aligned with his own.

Evan joined the Open Sky team in 2017 as a field guide, later working up to senior guide. In these roles, he valued the chance to help students gain self-confidence and become comfortable with being themselves. In 2020, he moved into the role of Field Manager. Evan is an empathetic and strong leader; qualities that allow him to support the guides in carrying out their work with students.

When he's not working, he loves backcountry ski touring, mountain biking, bareback horse riding, swimming, surfing, and creative writing. He grew up with a horse in Ohio that he trained and can ride on trails with no saddle or saddle pad. He also loves international travel and has visited five continents.

About Open Sky

Since 2006, Open Sky Wilderness Therapy has been providing the premier family-centered wilderness therapy experience. The Open Sky approach transcends traditional wilderness therapy by emphasizing treatment for the whole family not just the adolescent or young adult, and the application of evidence-based clinical modalities with innovative, well-researched holistic healing practices such as yoga, meditation and mindfulness.
