Growing up in rural Idaho, Haley developed her passion for nature at a young age. Exploring the wilderness filled her with joy and wonder throughout her adolescence. After obtaining her BA in sociology from Boise State University, she fostered her passion for exploration and traveled the world, visiting 16 countries in two years. In her travels, Haley took advantage of every opportunity to experience nature, from mountaineering to surfing. Through her time in nature across the globe, Haley was able to heal old wounds and find a new sense of aliveness.
When she returned to the States, Haley’s fire had been ignited, and she was inspired to share the healing potential of nature with others and began working as a field guide. After a few years of guiding, she realized it was time for her to take a deeper step into the healing profession and become a therapist. Haley accomplished this goal through studying clinical mental health counseling at Naropa University, where she was able to concentrate in transpersonal wilderness therapy.
While specializing in nature-based therapy, Haley has worked in a wide range of treatment. She has worked in equine therapy, residential treatment centers, addiction programs, as well as a nonprofit therapy program. After completing her master's at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, Haley returned to wilderness therapy as a therapist supporting families at Open Sky.
Haley understands that while the family unit has certainly changed in recent decades, it remains the bedrock of our culture. She sees that tending to the foundation of a healthy family unit now provides benefits to multiple generations. With the Open Sky team, Haley facilitates family therapy through a transpersonal perspective to provide her clients with a grounding experience that helps them explore the mysteries of their own being and uncover their hidden potential.
Haley loves working with families at Open Sky and enjoys getting outside herself when she can. In her free time, Haley can be found rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing, and gardening. She also loves live music, painting, and playing with her dog.
