Jared grew up in Durango and found his dream job right here at Open Sky. Before joining the Open Sky team as a field guide in May 2018, he gained three years of experience guiding at other wilderness therapy programs.
Jared believes wilderness therapy is truly the best way to create lasting change. His goal is to become a therapist. In his role as a Senior Guide, Jared values finding adventure in nature and harnessing every facet of the wilderness to improve students and self. He values finding grit and camaraderie in tough conditions and tailoring the experiences to the individual student.
Jared is adaptable and can easily change gears to fill in the strengths of a guide team. His gentleness has earned him the nickname “gentle Jared.” He holds deep conversations with integrity.
During his time off, Jared enjoys climbing, bouldering, and running. He also loves to read, cook, and farm. In 2016, Jared built a home with his dad.
