Juliet Ulibarri, BA

Senior Guide

Juliet joined Open Sky in March 2017 with rich experience working with students in the outdoors. She has served as the Assistant Director of KIN (Kids in Nature) Program in Santa Cruz, CA and the Backpacking Program Coordinator for Camp Tawanga in Yosemite National Park. At Camp Tawanga, she also spend four years guiding backpacking trips, two- to three-week adventure trips, challenge course, and taught nature skills. Her love for the outdoors and her belief in the healing powers of being in community in nature led Juliet to pursue wilderness therapy. She was drawn to Open Sky by its mindfulness approach and its holistic way of assessing each student’s treatment.

As a Field Guide, Juliet values the opportunity to support youth who are going through a rough time in their life. She values helping them learn how to be in conscious relationship with themselves, their community, and with nature. Her strengths are her ability to support on the team and individual levels and create a plan that meets the students where they are at. She also contributes her love and knowledge of birds, plants, and history of the land.

In her free time, Juliet loves to go on rock climbing trips, practice yoga (and acro-yoga!), dance, bird-watch, and identify plants.
