Lori graduated from Calvin College with Bachelors of Arts in Organizational Communication and Spanish. During and after her time at Calvin, she gained experience in writing, public relations, marketing and office administration, all of which prepared her for the role of Marketing Assistant at Open Sky. Living in Durango and being part of the Open Sky team provides Lori with the perfect opportunity to combine her communication skills with her passion for helping others and her thirst for adventure.
Lori is from Kalamazoo, MI, but also has roots out West. Growing up, she spent time in Durango almost every year when visiting her grandparents in northwest New Mexico. Lori loves to take advantage of being outdoors, whether by skiing in the Rocky Mountains, backpacking along the West Michigan lakeshore, summiting the volcanoes and exploring the jungles of Peru (where she studied abroad for a semester of college), or anything in between. These experiences led her to truly believe in nature’s therapeutic qualities. She is elated to be part of Open Sky’s efforts to harness these qualities and lead individuals to fulfilled lives and healthy relationships.
One of Lori’s favorite ways to expand her understanding of the world and love for the people in it is by getting to know individuals with different backgrounds or from other cultures. This priority is manifested when she travels, volunteers and hosts international guests in her home. She also enjoys playing cards with family and friends, relaxing outside or by the fire with a book, watching Detroit Tigers baseball and petting dogs every chance she gets.
