After graduating from college, Lucy worked at an outdoor day camp on the Front Range that focused on teaching practical nature skills. Most recently, she worked at a summer camp in California that focused on exhilarating outdoor adventure and play.
Lucy was drawn to Open Sky by her passion to serve others. She trusts in the healing benefits of nature and appreciates Open Sky’s family-centered approach. What Lucy values most about her role as a field guide is the opportunity to provide a safe and consistent container for students to engage in challenge and play. She also appreciates connecting with others in a community free from distraction and teaching students basic wilderness skills, which encourages self-efficacy and resilience. Lucy’s strengths within a guide team include her communication, comfort in the outdoors, ability to foster authentic connection, curiosity, playfulness, and resilience.
During her time off, Lucy loves to make music, dance, draw with oil pastels, and snowboard. She is learning how to climb and bike. Lucy also likes to spend time foraging for wild herbs and cook and enjoy meals with loved ones.
