Mark Braunstein, DO

Consulting Psychiatrist

Dr. Mark Braunstein (or “Dr. B,” as he is known by students at Open Sky) grew up New York and attended undergraduate at the University of Florida, where he received a BS in Mathematics. He went on to earn his medical degree at Nova Southeastern University College Of Osteopathic Medicine in 1997. He completed his residency in General Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

Dr. B specializes in the treatment of ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, oppositional defiance, personality disorders, and treatment resistance. He is known for his relaxing nature, his assessment skills, and his abilities to involve clients in their own treatment process and develop a therapeutic alliance with treatment-resistant youth.

Dr. B lives in Durango, where he maintains a private practice along with his work at Open Sky. In his spare time, he enjoys kayaking, rafting, skiing, and snowboarding. His favorite thing is spending time with his school-age son.
