Meggie grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania and spent most of her time outdoors and riding horses. She moved out West when she went to Lewis & Clark College. While in school, she developed a love of the outdoors exploring the Oregon mountains, desert, forests, and coast. These adventures inspired her to work in the wilderness during the summers as a backpacking and mountaineering instructor for the Colorado Outward Bound School.
Meggie loved her time at Outward Bound and wanted to explore working with people on a deeper emotional level through wilderness therapy. She was drawn to Open Sky for its holistic approach and the fact that the program offered nutrition, yoga, and mindfulness practices as part of the work, as she has found all of these practices very beneficial in her own life.
Meggie began her Open Sky journey as a field guide, then worked on the Medical Team and as a transporter. She is now excited to be a part of the Finance Team and loves the detail work the position requires. She is grateful that Open Sky has given her the opportunity to use her diverse skill set in many areas of the company.
While not working, Meggie enjoys exploring the Southwest and the wider world. She loves to travel and has most recently been to Nepal, Costa Rica, and Chile. At home in Durango, she likes to mountain bike, trail run, swim in the river, make food with friends, and spend time at home with her two cats and plants. Her other interests include studying astrology, participating in personal development workshops and reading in bed.
