As a Michigan native, Millie received her BS in Nursing from Northern Michigan University. She was drawn to wilderness therapy after working in a hospital. In that setting, she realized that common treatment modalities don’t always fully address the root of an individual’s problem. She was attracted to Open Sky because she had found the wilderness to be healing and wanted to share that healing with others. At Open Sky, she has extensive experience as a field guide, senior guide, as well as Field Medic.
Millie's professionalism, expertise, and level-headedness in the face of adversity are keys to her success. As a Field Medic and Senior Guide, Millie values the ability to create an environment of health and safety and educate students in ways they can care for themselves physically, as well as mentally and emotionally. She loves to witness them grow and develop into beautiful, vulnerable, and loving individuals.
For fun, Millie is a fan of singing and playing the ukulele, snowboarding, kickboxing, and sailing.
