Nikki studied fine arts in the form of painting and drawing in her home state of Ohio. During her final year of college, she focused heavily on concepts behind her artwork—specifically, how experiences throughout our lives affect our everyday behavior and thought processes. This focus on psychology in an unconventional manner, tied in with Nikki’s love and experience for the natural world and what it does, is what drew her to Open Sky.
During college, Nikki spent her summers working in the world of Conservation Corps; she lead young adults in building trails, taught an educational class for her team, and spent the weekends exploring Colorado. This is where she found so much purpose and excitement in what the outdoors can do for individuals, including the internal and external changes she found in herself after those summers. Nikki is very passionate about individualized treatment at Open Sky, connecting internal work to the external world, and maintaining a safe environment for everyone involved in the program.
Nikki continues to make artwork and really enjoys making merchandise for local bands in Durango. Nikki often goes hiking& backpacking in the San Juans, plays music, and rock climbs.
