Rachel has a BA in Psychology from the University of San Francisco. She worked for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy as the camp coordinator for the Konnorock Trail Crew. She has a plethora of wilderness experience, including a 1000-mile section hike of the Appalachian Trail as well as a 2500 mile through-hike on the Continental Divide Trail.
As an Open Sky alumni student, Rachel felt called to return and give back. She was a student in 2015 and admired the guides she had while in the program. Now as a guide herself, Rachel brings this unique perspective to her work, which lends to her ability to empathize and relate to the students.
Rachel loves seeing students gain so much from being in the wilderness. She finds it very special to witness the transformation that happens from the beginning of a student’s journey at Open Sky to their final days in the program.
During her time off, Rachel loves to be in her garden, hike mountains, and spend time with her dog.
