Sierra is a Pennsylvania native with a background in substance abuse mental health. She completed a BA in Psychology specialized in Mental Health from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where she found her desire to work in the counseling field. She later achieved her MA in Community Counseling specialized in Addictions from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. During her internship at an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, Sierra found her passion for working with individuals who have not yet reached their potential. She strives to help them access their true selves and live in harmony with the world around them.
While working at a substance abuse treatment center, Sierra continued to develop and uses solution-focused, strength-based, and person-centered approaches to motivate and work through issues with her clients in a warm, direct, and collaborative manner. She is experienced with helping individuals work through developmental transitions, resistance to treatment, family and relationship dynamics, and mental health and substance abuse conditions. Sierra likes to help those she works with to internalize courage and act with bravery, as exemplified in one of her favorite quotes, Amy Poehler: “Great people do things before they’re ready. They do things before they know they can do it.”
Outside of work, Sierra likes to explore the world around her by hiking, kayaking, and sightseeing in the Durango area. She enjoys spending quality time with friends, discovering new restaurants, and leisurely reading in the sun.
