Before becoming a field guide for Open Sky, Talia worked as an instructor for Outward Bound in Colorado, was an environmental science educator in Yosemite National Park, and worked as a naturalist in Colorado. Talia decided to become a guide with Open Sky because she has found healing in wilderness and wanted to share that experience with others. She also believes that living and problem solving in wilderness acts as a microcosm for life's challenges.
In her role as a field guide, Talia loves building connections with others and working with young people. She also enjoys teaching people how to care for themselves. Talia was drawn to Open Sky because of the emphasis on the four rooms and its holistic approach. She appreciates the value placed on mindfulness, meditation, and yoga. Her strengths within a guide team are that she is high-energy, enthusiastic, compassionate, patient, kind, and connects easily with others. She also has good communication skills and knows how to effectively express herself.
During her time off, Talia likes rock climbing, skiing, swimming, and cooking and sharing meals with friends. She also likes writing poetry and enjoys spending time with people she loves.
