
Tom has a BS in Geology from Vanderbilt University and an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Colorado, Leeds School of Business. He brings over 25 years of management, business development, and marketing experience in a wide range of service industries. His career has always followed his heart, whether it be in better community planning, environmental stewardship, renewable energy development, or helping individuals and families thrive through wilderness therapy.
Tom joined the Open Sky leadership team in February 2016, as part of Open Sky’s commitment to excellence. His considerable business skills provide experienced leadership in management, business systems, product development, and marketing. At Open Sky, Tom is responsible for marketing and outreach, alumni programs, product development, IT systems, and strategy.
Tom is active in the local community, serving on the boards of the Durango Nordic Ski Club, Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency, and Durango Winter Sports Foundation. Through the Southwest Small Business Development Center, he helps entrepreneurs with business planning and marketing. He and his wife Tracie own CrossFit Catacombs, a local business dedicated to improving people’s health and fitness. As an outdoor enthusiast, Tom enjoys mountain biking, skiing, river trips, and climbing mountains with his wife and three daughters.
