With both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Hospitality from the University of South Carolina, Tori Moon began her career in event and restaurant management. After taking a NOLS course and experiencing how powerful nature can be, she knew she wanted to work in the outdoors.
Tori came to Open Sky through personal experience. Her brother attended Open Sky and went through an amazing transformation. Tori appreciated being included so she could learn more about his past and how she could be supportive in the future. That emphasis on including the family throughout the student’s journey is what attracted her to Open Sky.
Tori joined the team as a field guide in 2017. As a field guide and eventually a senior guide, Tori valued being able to support students in becoming their best selves. Her own openness to criticism is a strength that she applies to her work in the field. She became Assistant Field Director in 2020 and supports the field team in their meaningful work.
Outside of work, Tori enjoys experimenting in the kitchen without a recipe, doing yoga, running, exploring new places, and being outside in general.
