Vic Kerr (she/her), a seasoned outdoor industry professional, is passionate about wilderness therapy as a means for families to connect and flourish. She knows firsthand the power of outdoor adventures to reveal strength and resilience in individuals – a renewed self-awareness that enriches the rest of our lives. With a desire to be part of building that experience for families, Vic felt Open Sky was the obvious choice.
Originally from Scotland, Vic’s career in the outdoor industry spans nearly 20 years as an instructor, educator, trainer, and administrator. Drawn to wild places since childhood, Vic has climbed Denali, cycled through grizzly bear country from the Arctic Circle, and guided dozens of students up glaciated peaks. Her passions are exploration and discovery, both in the terrain we travel through and in the learnings we have about ourselves.
Vic joined the Open Sky team in January 2022, excited by the connection between her devotion to learning and growth in wild spaces and Open Sky’s belief that all people have the capacity to thrive. Serving as Head of Human Resources and Risk Management, her personal values reflect human-centered and inclusive workplaces and workplace cultures. Her approach is guided by systems theory, recognizing the interconnectivity and complexity of building strong teams, fueled by an environment where employees have support in making their greatest impact – and where they themselves can grow and thrive.
She and her family are thrilled to join the Durango community and look forward to commuting by bike, xeriscaping, exploring the local trails, and making handcrafts.
